The City of Beaufort released the findings and some recommendations from its $89,000 Lady’s Island traffic study, but the presentation Thursday night raised as many questions as it answered.
The study’s recommendations centered on connectivity, creating or identifying routes around the central traffic issue, the Sea Island Parkway/Sam’s Point Road intersection. But neither sponsors nor consultants said much about next steps or financing, or how city and county would work together to agree and implement recommendations.
Importantly, the report as presented dealt not at all with the causes of the traffic problem, and without identifying and dealing with these, a real solution will never be reached.
